This morning, the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur, received members of the Marine Protected Areas Technical Advisory Committee (MPA-TAC) at the Ministry to review progress on the establishment of Ghana’s first-ever MPAs in the Greater Cape Three Points area.

The engagement brought the Minister up to speed on key milestones achieved so far, following Cabinet approval on 7th October 2025 for the establishment of the MPAs.
Key issues discussed included:
MPA Communication Roadmap
- Development of the MPA song sheet & FAQs
- Socialisation of the communication strategy with MoFA & Fisheries Commission
- Capacity-building training for selected journalists
- Planned media interviews with key personalities, including the Hon. Minister
Updates on the MPA Roadmap
- Progress on the MPA governance framework
- Status of the MPA management plan
- Review of outstanding activities and next steps


The Minister reaffirmed Government’s commitment to transparent, inclusive and well-communicated implementation of the MPAs to protect marine ecosystems while safeguarding the livelihoods of coastal communities.
