The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture, in collaboration with the Corporate Affairs Unit of the Fisheries Commission, has held a strategic communication, outreach, and engagement workshop focused on Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Western Region.

The workshop, which took place on Thursday, July 23, 2025, at the Fisheries Commission Conference Room, brought together key players from the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit and regional representatives from fishing communities. The objective was to develop effective communication strategies to engage fisherfolks and community members within and around Marine Protected Areas.
With technical support from Hen Mpoano—a non-governmental organization committed to inclusive and integrated management of Ghana’s coastal and marine ecosystems—the session also emphasized policy and grassroots engagement. Hen Mpoano continues to work with civil society, traditional leaders, government agencies, and the private sector to promote sustainable coastal resource management.
