GOVERNMENT SETTLES GH¢115.9 MILLION PREMIX FUEL UNDER-RECOVERIES TO STABILISE SUPPLY UNDER PRESIDENT MAHAMA’S RESETTING AGENDA

The Government of Ghana, under the leadership of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, has taken decisive steps to stabilise the downstream petroleum supply chain and safeguard the premix fuel programme as part of the Resetting Ghana Agenda

In line with this commitment, an amount of GH¢115,957,330, covering outstanding under-recoveries owed to Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs) between March and September 2025, was fully paid on 16 January 2026

The settlement removes a major liquidity constraint faced by BDCs and is expected to translate directly into the timely and reliable supply of premix fuel to artisanal fisherfolk across coastal and inland fishing communities nationwide.

By clearing these arrears, Government has reaffirmed its dedication to the premix fuel subsidy framework, a critical intervention designed to reduce operational costs for small-scale fishers, protect livelihoods, and support productivity within the fisheries value chain.

The intervention further demonstrates President Mahama’s Resetting Ghana Agenda, which prioritises economic stabilisation, institutional efficiency, transparency, and the protection of vulnerable sectors, including fisheries and coastal livelihoods.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture, in collaboration with relevant energy sector institutions, will continue to closely monitor premix fuel distribution to ensure accountability, fairness, and uninterrupted supply to intended beneficiaries.

This action forms part of broader government efforts to strengthen food security, restore confidence in key supply chains, and reposition the fisheries sector as a pillar of national development under the Resetting Ghana Agenda.
