The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur, has encouraged women to remain resilient and continue breaking barriers in their professional journeys.
She made the call while joining female staff of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) at an Executive Brunch Panel in Accra as part of activities marking International Women’s Day.

The event, held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, formed part of PHDC’s month-long celebration under the theme “Give to Gain – A Month of Leadership.” The initiative aims to amplify women’s voices, promote mentorship, share experiences of growth, and strengthen leadership among female staff of the corporation.
Speaking on the topic “Resilience and Breaking Barriers,” Hon. Arthur acknowledged that women often face additional challenges in the workplace. She, however, urged them not to allow such barriers to limit their ambitions.
She emphasized that professional competence is not determined by gender and encouraged women to believe in their abilities and confidently pursue leadership opportunities.

The Minister also advised women to embrace their humanity and avoid placing unrealistic expectations on themselves. She further highlighted the importance of solidarity among women, noting that mentorship and collaboration are essential to accelerating progress in the workplace.
Hon. Arthur therefore encouraged the women of PHDC to remain determined and committed to excellence in their various roles as they continue to contribute to national development.
