The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development has assured fisherfolk in the Shama Apo and Shama Roundabout communities that their concerns over premix fuel distribution will be addressed.
During her visit to these coastal communities in the Western Region, the Minister engaged with local fishers, who expressed frustration over bureaucratic barriers preventing fair access to premix fuel. In response, she reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enforcing regulations that ensure every landing beach has a dedicated committee overseeing fair and transparent fuel distribution.
She also provided updates on the construction of a mini harbor, assuring the community of the government’s dedication to completing the project to support local fisheries.
This visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen government-fisherfolk engagement, improve livelihoods, and sustain Ghana’s fisheries sector.
