Minister Emelia Arthur Advocates for Sustainable Fisheries at Our Ocean Conference 2026

The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur, participated in a high-level side event at the 11th Our Ocean Conference 2026, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

The event, themed “The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture: From Data to Action – Blue Transformation: Turning Vision into Impact,” brought together policymakers, fisheries experts, development partners, and stakeholders from across the globe to discuss strategies for promoting sustainable fisheries and aquaculture development. During the discussions, participants highlighted the importance of data-driven decision-making, innovation, and stronger partnerships in transforming the fisheries sector to ensure food security, economic growth, and the sustainable management of marine resources.

Hon. Emelia Arthur reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to advancing sustainable fisheries and aquaculture practices, emphasizing the need for collaborative action to build resilient coastal communities and strengthen the blue economy. She also underscored the importance of translating global commitments into practical actions that deliver measurable benefits for fishers, fish farmers, and future generations.

The side event formed part of the broader Our Ocean Conference agenda, which seeks to mobilize global action and commitments towards the protection and sustainable use of ocean resources.
